The very first thing you should notice is that the dragonfly is not flying. Given the low angle of attack of the wings and the near-zero phase angle between front and hind wings, I’d say he just woke up. You see, muscles this powerful don’t beat 40 times a second from a cold start. Every morning, the dragonfly must exercise before gaining the ability to fly.

In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success. - Psalm 5:6
Prepare your minds for service and have self-control. All your hope should be for the gift of grace that will be yours when Jesus Christ is shown to you. - 1 Peter 1:13 (NCV)

He’s not carrying the word; in fact, he’s definitely standing on it. The Word does not move. The dragonfly has chosen to stand on it and it’s holding him firm because it cannot be moved.

So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, ""If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32 (first hand eye witness testimony)

The spiral at the end of the scroll represents the endless word that no human will ever be able to fully comprehend. Though many millions have studied it for their lifetime, none have attained more than a mere glimpse of the beauty that it contains.

Who knows the thoughts that another person has? Only a person’s spirit that lives within him knows his thoughts. It is the same with God. No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2:11 (NCV)

The scroll is telescoping because the Word of God has so many layers above and below the meaning that is in front of you. For example, Jesus made prophecies that were fulfilled twice, once in the Roman conquest of Jerusalem and once in the future. Daniel did the same thing regarding the conquest of Alexander the Great and also events in our future. You also have poetry that contains prophecy, narrative that contains poetry, and narrative with promises of blessings so certain that they become prophecy.

Whoever hears my word and believes Him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to llife. John 5:24 (NIV)

Then you’ve got the got the word written in three languages that you don’t speak. There are idioms and customs and figures of speech we might not fully understand the way the author meant to say it. And that’s okay, you can still get into heaven if you don’t understand all the writing. No one understands all the writing.

The bronze bands around the scroll represent purity, strength, authority, and glory. That’s why when we see Jesus again, he will have bronze feet. The scroll in the middle contains the opening blessings of Revelation.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.
